Rotary Club of Greater Silchar was Chartered on 8th February,2017 under RID 3240 and Club ID 89037. The Charter President was Rtn Joyjit Biswas and Secretary Rtn Dr. Rajat Deb. The Club started its journey with 29 members.In the past Seven years the Club was able to give 2 AKS namely Rtn Budhmal Baid and Rtn Jodhraj Baid. Till date RC Greater Silchar has 2 Major Donors, 12 Multiple PHF and 21 PHF members. The total members in the Club standa at 47 with 4 active Female members. The Club conducts its RWM on Fridays and is held at Capital Building, Club Road, Silchar,Assam. In the Rotary year 2023- 24 RC Greater Silchar stood 10th in South Asia and 38th in the world. It achieved this distinction for contributing to TRF. In these 7 plus years RC Greater Silchar took up some projects a few of which are given below.
We constructed a waiting shed for OPD at Civil Hospital, Silchar. CSR Projects of INR 65 lakhs was done at Cachar Cancer Hospital, Silchar. An old age home was constructed at Jain Vishwa Bharti, Ladnun, Rajasthan at a cost to INR 2 Crores.Another Hostel will be constructed at a cost of INR 1.6 Crores.The Club has 5 Literacy Centres and has converted 7 Primary Schools into Rotary Happy Schools. A Modern Life support Ambulance was donated to Haflong Civil Hospital.Eye screening camps have been conducted wilh complete Cataract Operation free of cost.A permanent e- Learning center is run by the Club at Sikhsha Niketan. 2 nos Mentrual Sanitory Napkin Vending machines have been set up.
