Overview
On Valentine’s Day, 14th February 2026, the Rotary Club of Greater Silchar organized a Maternal and Child Health Camp at Kumber Tea Estate, spreading care and support among mothers and children. Pregnancy screening was conducted by Dr. Kaustav Kar and Dr. Malvika Tiwari, where several concerns were identified with great care. Four pregnant women were found to be suffering from anemia and six from malnutrition, while three young expectant mothers aged 17, 18 and 19 received special medical attention. Proper treatment and valuable health advice were provided to ensure safe motherhood. Additionally, 11 malnourished children were examined and treated by Dr. Kasav Patikar, and two children were referred to the NRC at Civil Hospital for specialized care. The presence of past secretary Rtn. Dr. Juri Sharma and other Rotarians added encouragement to this noble initiative for healthier mothers and brighter childhoods.
