During the Mental Health Week 2nd Drive, the Rotary Club of Greater Silchar reached out to Sukumar, an elderly man who had spent seven long years alone on the streets of Silchar. His days were filled with silence, neglect, and unimaginable hardship. Moved by his condition, aspiring Rotaractor Subir Dhar and his team, guided by Club President Rtn. Dr. Rajat Deb, Club Secretary Rtn. Abhijit Paul, Rtn. Pulak Das, Rtn. Shomyojit Biswas, and other dedicated Rotarians, with the warm support of Silchar Sadar Police, stepped in with compassion. They cleaned him, gave him medical care, and ensured he found a safe home at JEEVAN DEEP Old Age Home, Fakirtilla. Now, Sukumar smiles again. A gentle smile that whispers relief, dignity, and new beginnings. This act of love reminds us that even one moment of kindness can rewrite someone’s life.
