On 1st January 2026, the Rotary Club of Greater Silchar participated in the inauguration of National Road Safety Month 2026 at Silchar Gaan Mela, held at the Silchar District Sports Association, Cachar. The month-long awareness programme (1st–31st January) was organised by Netaji Chatra Yuba Sangstha (NCYS) in collaboration with the Cachar District Road Safety Committee, with support from the District Transport Department, Cachar. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Raktim Baruah, ADC Cachar & Dholai Co-District Commissioner, in the presence of Shri Angikar Borgohain, DTO Cachar, and other officials. Traditional uttoriyas were presented to dignitaries, and road safety leaflets were distributed to artists and visitors, promoting helmet and seat belt use, speed discipline, avoidance of drunken driving, and safe road behaviour. Our participation highlighted Rotary’s commitment to public safety and community welfare.
